Update from Carnival HQ

With ‘Step Three’ of the Government’s Road Map out of Lockdown achieved and news that we are still progressing towards Step 4 (21st June), we here at Carnival HQ are very much up for a full blown Carnival and hope you are too.

Over the past few weeks our Committee has been in detailed discussion with the Town Council, the Police and our local authority, Wiltshire Council. We have shared our proposed Programme of Events, Risk Assessments, Event Management Plans and our Covid-19 precautions; we have received both useful advice and positive encouragement from all three organisations for all aspects of our proposals. So, with tremendous support from our local artists, musicians, actors, historians, hostelries, and residents there will be some 30 events taking place throughout August culminating in the ‘Big One’   - The Procession.

So put these dates in your diary now!

Open Gardens……………………..Sunday 1st August
Petticoat Lane……………………..Sunday 29th August
Music in the Cloisters……………Monday 30th August
Procession……………………………Saturday 4th September

A full programme of events will be available to coincide with the successful achievement of Step 4 on 21st June 2021

And while we're here...

Carnival is run by the community for the community and depends entirely upon the work of volunteers to ensure its success as both a community event and as a means of raising funds for all our local organisations and charities. (In 2019 we raised in excess of £20,000 and in 2020, our very first virtual carnival raised £3,000).

So in other words...
