Enjoy strolling around our ancient town and discovering a wide variety of wonderful spaces; with tea and cake available. Map in advance from the Town Hall or on the day from a garden.

Come and try Nordic Walking – Start point given upon booking

History Walk

Sunday 13th August

Steve’s Walk

Car sharing from Cross Hayes for about a 5 mile circular countryside walk with the chance of pub lunch to follow. Participants are responsible for their own safety.

Steves Walk

Saturday 19th August

Guided History Walk

Accompany guides from the Civic Trust on a ‘Steeple Chase’ around the churches and chapels of the town. Visit sites associated not only with the Church of England and Roman Catholic Church but numerous Protestant sects. Their development and people associated with them will be described. Malmesbury Civic Trust has sought to enhance and improve the town since 1963.

Tickets: £5.00 adult, £3.00 Child. Available from Athelstan Museum



Friday 25th August

Bat Walk

Hosted by Malmesbury River Valleys Trust. Use sonic detectors to listen to bats.

Time: 8.30pm
Venue: Station Road, Conygre Mead
Tickets: £3.00 each or £5 per family, Pay at event



Sunday 27th August

Petticoat Lane

Stroll down the High Street, meeting friends as you seek out bargains from the varied stalls.

Time: 10.00am – 3.30pm

10k Run

Join your fellow runners on a pleasant and well organised morning circuit round the country lanes. This event is organised by dbmax who kindly make a donation to Carnival.

Monday 28th September

Cycle Ride

Our traditional Carnival bike ride along quiet country roads; about 20 miles. Participants are responsible for their own safety and all children must be supervised during the ride. Please dress to be seen by other road users!

Venue: Meet outside the Old Bell
Tickets: £5.00 – to include light refreshment en route. Pay at event



Thursday 31st August – Saturday 2nd September

Danter’s Fair

All the fun of the fair. This event is run by James Danter’s Funfair who kindly make a donation to Carnival. Please note that the car park will be closed to all vehicles from 5.30 on Tuesday 29th August until 1.00 on Sunday 3rd September. The alternative car park will be signed

Carnvial procession

Saturday 2nd September

Procession

This needs no introduction; the big Carnival event and major fundraiser for our local good causes. Sponsored by Hilditch Group. Why not be part of it this year? Download an entry form. Please keep yourself and others safe –do not throw money directly at participants, keep your children out of the road, and take extra care if it rains.

A joyous celebration held outside the Abbey, weather permitting. Live music. Do come in your procession costume
